The Babysitter

This is a secret little project of mine I wrote in about 3 hours whilst riding in a car on my way to Oregon to visit my wife’s relatives.   The idea was my wife’s, she mentioned it to me and it fascinated me so much that I wrote it there and then in one session.

I wrote a second draft in anticipation of filming this some time in 2006, but it didn’t all come together until August of 2008.  Principle photography went off without an major problems but after putting together a rough cut I knew that I wanted to film some pick-up shots to replace a couple of angles I wasn’t happy with and insert some more footage to help explain things a little better, and to give the story a little better flow. But unfortunately after months of scheduling conflicts with the lead actress Megan McComas and a no-show from a body double I just had to kind of “bite the belt” and deal with it.

I have heard it said that movies are never really finished there are always going to be things you don’t like about them, things you wish that you could change in one way or another, but that you get to a stage where you just have to kind of let them go, “set them adrift” and see if they float. In the end, whilst not perfect she is finished and I am proud of her and well it’s time to see if she floats.
