A dead person

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Today I touched a dead person for the first time in my life. One of my neighbors hung himself. I won’t go into more detail then that but I heard someone calling for help and I called 911 and repeated myself a bunch of times and got transferred to someone else… I thought the person who picked up the phone was the one who helped you… not get all your information and then transfer you to someone else who takes it all from the beginning again.

I jumped the back fence and helped his relatives try to revive him but he had been gone too long. His name was Tom, I had only spoken to him a few times before over the back fence but he seemed like a very nice guy. I noticed for the first time today while we tried to revive him that he had a beautiful large tattoo across his side that was of a Boris Vallejo artwork. I would have liked to have talked to him about that… a little late now.

Anyway, I may not have known him well but he was a fellow human being and a nice one… So Rest In Peace Tom and may you find whatever you need in the afterlife.

Neck Stump

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Ok well it is late so I won’t be too long here but I wanted to give an update on things even if I haven’t gotten much done… :(

Ok So I went and bought some fresh (cheap) clay and finished the Neck sculpt. Then I went and bought some Hydrocal and made a one piece Mother/Box mold over it. I cleaned out the clay and the “armature” (if you could even call it that) and washed out the Mold. I let it bake in the sun a little bit and then I slush molded it with liquid latex. I left it to rest over night and the next day I had a very cool fake rubber latex neck stump, which I powdered, removed and “tanned” a little in the sun again to help finish drying and give it some color.

Sigh. I have pictures but I just realized that I am on the wrong computer so I can’t upload them right now… damnit. I’ll take a look at it tomorrow and see about updating this post with them.

And that is about it. I have been doing a bunch of tidying up around the house, the yard and my shed which should make more progress easier… more I just need to fight my apathy and do something. I need to finish this movie… I want to finish this movie. I have the time, I can do it. I will do it. sigh.

UPDATE!

ok so here are the pictures as promised, I have done a little more work this morning on getting the stake ready… but that’s about it, I need to sit down to review the one scene and plan out exactly what I want to do and anything else I am going to need before I start… maybe i’ll do that now seeing as I am stuck here with a sleeping baby on me anyway - YouTube here I come!
